A graveside service was held April 28 at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery with the Revs. Kelly Brown and Tom Braziel officiating. Born Nov. 2, 1917 in Douglas to the late George H. and Jincy Bland Bridges, she was a 1934 graduate of Douglas High School and a graduate of South Georgia College. She was retired after 26 years as accountant for Dorminy Oldsmobile and Cadillac in Fitzgerald and was former assistant city clerk for the City of Douglas. After retirement, she worked as a caseworker for the Ben Hill County Department of Family and Children Services. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald and the Rebekah Sunday School Class and was a former intermediate Sunday School Class teacher. She was married to the late Clarence Howard Middlebrooks. Survivors include her caregivers, Gary and Sue Smith of Fitzgerald, several nieces and nephews, including Juanwan Mead Park of Douglas, Carolyn Mead Morrison of Alpharetta, Faith Scarborough Hendley of Nashville, Tim Scarborough of Merritt Island, FL; five great-nieces, four great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Mead and Lilla Mae Scarborough, and two brothers, Homer Erastus Bridges and Edward Bernice Bridges.
