Boykin The funeral service for Myrtle L. Boykin of Ben Hill county, who died Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at Dorminy Medical Center, was held Saturday, January 31 in Burch Hudson Funeral Home. She was 86. Dr. Gene Wilder and Rev. Gerald Thomas officiated at the service with interment in Brushy Creek Cemetery. Music was provided by Marty Smith, organist and congregational singing. Pallbearers were Junior Dowdy, Billy Cox, David D. Boykin, Bob Burge, Jerry W. Dixon, S. Patrick Dixon, Billy Phillips, and E. S. Winn, IV. The deceased was born November 30, 1911 to George F. and Sarah Garrison Barnes. Mrs. Boykin was the widow of Huey D. Boykin. She was employed by Scott's Flower Shop for 25 years as a bookkeeker, salesperson, and a variety of other duties. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Fitzgerald, where she attended the Bethany Sunday School Class. She had lived in Fitzgerald since 1969,moving from Detroit. ML Survivors include, one son: Daniel J. Boykin of, Livonia, MI; two sisters: Gladys Gibbs and Doris Butler, both of Fitzgerald; 2 grandchildren.
