Joe F. Hair, Sr.

  Mr. Joe F. Hair, Sr., 76, died Friday, December 16, 1997 at Dorminy Medical 
Center in Fitzgerald.
  Mr. Hair was born January 1, 1921, in Pineview, the son of Foster and Claude 
Lovette Hair. Mr. Hair
 was raised by his aunt, Ollie Myrick. He had lived in Fitzgerald most of his 
life and was a 1938 graduate,of
 Fitzgerald High School. He was the former Southeastern Regional Marketing 
Manager for General TelePhone and was owner & operator of General Insurance 
Agency, which he
 formed in 1959. He was a past member of the Administrative Board of Central 
United Methodist Church
 where he was a member;and a member of the Elks Club. He served in WWI in the 
U.S.Army and was past  president of the Fitzgeral Athletic Booster Club.
 He is survived by his wife, Margaret W. Hair of Fitzgerald; two sons, Dr. Joe 
F. Hair, Jr. and Jeff
C. Hair, both of Fitzgerald and two grandchildren.
 Funeral services were held Sunday, December 21, 1997 at 2 p.m.at Central 
United Methodist Church
with Dr. Edwin "Buddy" Cooper and Dr. Gene Wilder officiating.
 Brian Morriss was the organist and Eulalie Woeltjen was the soloist.
 Pallbearers were Bobby Chasteen,Morris Campbell, Maurice Harden,Charles Clark, 
Jay Cooper, Jim
Dorminy and Thurman Ellis.
 lnterment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald.
 Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
