 Lewis" Pete" Hart
Lewis "Pete" Hart, 79, passed     away early Saturday, January 24, 
1998,in the Veterans Administration Medical cen.t.er, Lake City, FL. 
following an extended illness.
    A native of Ben Hill County, he   had lived in Clinch County since 
1951. He was a retired carpenter, a  member of the Shiloh Southern  
Congregational Methodist Church.
    He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II and  
receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of the DAV, and the Lake Vern 
Fishing and Hunting Club. He was the son of the late Lewis Harrison Hart 
and Sarah Susan  Farmer Hart.
Survivors are his wife of 56     years, Mrs. Martiele Roberts Hart, two 
daughters and sons-in-law:Vivian and Larry Smith and Pat and  Preacher 
Joyce; one son and      daughter-in-law: Jack and Donna Hart; two 
sisters: Estelle H. Martin, Irwinville, and Sarah H. Briley, Homerville; 
9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hart were held Monday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. 
at Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Officiating were Dr. 
Alton Cook, Rev. Keith Chauncey and Rev. Talmadge Guess.
Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers were Will Joyce, Jake Hart, Jarred Hart, Jimmy Smith,.Danny 
Smith, Greer Smith and Timmy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were J. W. 
Hudson, Charles Harris, Ed Douglas, Ronnie Douglas, W. I. Booth, Mike 
Martinez and Larry Chambless.
Hugh Robens sang "How Great Thou Art" and led the congregation in 
"Amazing Grace".
Roundtree Funeral Home of Homerville was in charge of the arrangements.
