She was 76. Mrs. Smith was born June 20, 1922 in Turner County, the daughter of John and Flora Willoughby. Mrs. Smith was retired from Fitzgerald Nursing Home. She had lived in the community since 1950,moving from Turner County. She was a former employee of H. R. Kaminsky & Sons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Smith and one daughter, Marjorie Hulett. Survivors include two sons, Charles Smith and Courtney "Junior" Smith, both of Fitzgerald; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Willard Willoughby of Rebecca and W. T. Willoughby of Fitzgerald. Services were held Sunday, July 12, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel of Fitzgerald, with Rev. Avin Miller officiating. Music was provided by Rev. Miller and family. Pallbearers were Willard Swearinger, Joe Richardson,Gary, Hunter,Chip Dorminy,Jack Smith and Jeff Fowler. Interment was held at Salem Cemetery of Ben Hill County.
