Marchant Mrs. Lillian S. Marchant of Fitzgerald died Saturday, June 6,1998 at her residence. She was 80. Mrs. Marchant was born June 25, 1917, the daughter of, C.W.H. (Charlie) and Eppie Smith. She was a retired bookkeeper for White's Radio and T.Y. in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Marchant had moved back to Fitzgerald in 1962 from Albany where she had lived several years. During WWII she worked in the Bomb Factory in Macon. She was a former medical secretary in Albany. Mrs. Marchant attended First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald, where she was a member of Bethany Sunday School Class and a former BYFU teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband N. A. "Buster" Marchant and three brothers: Rev. C. W. Smith, Paul Smith and James Smith. Survivors include one sister, Eleanor Tucker of Mt. Vernon and several nieces and nephews including: Paula Daniels, Billy Tucker, Beth Herrin, Jimmy Smith, Diane Henry, Peggy Clemons and C. Alton Smith. Services were held Monday, June 8, 1998, at 2:00 p.m. at Paulk Funeral Horne Chapel with Dr. Gene Wilder and Gerald Thomas officiating. Pallbearers were William Daniels, Matthew Daniels, Ryan Clemons, Tyler Clemons,Chris Herrin and Johnathan Herrin. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy White, Willis Griffin and Bill Griffin. Interment was held at Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald.
