Obituary, March 2013
  Mary L. Smith, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 
Heritage Personal Care Home in Ocilla.

  Funeral services will be held 2pm, Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Paulk 
Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Elder Jamey Tucker and the Rev. Dewain 
Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family 
will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

  Mrs. Smith was born June 27, 1924, in Screven, Georgia, to the late Walter 
and Maude Satilla Moody Long. She lived in the community for over 65 years. For 
47 years she was a bookkeeper and sales clerk for Friedlander's Department 
Store in Fitzgerald, retiring only when the store closed. Mrs. Smith was famous 
for baking cakes and doing alterations. She was a longtime member of Fitzgerald 
Church of God.

  She is survived by a sister-in-law; Lois Parsons of Fitzgerald as well as 
several nieces and nephews including several nieces and nephews of her husband. 
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; J.B. Smith to 
whom she was married for 62 years; five sisters and six brothers.
