The Valdosta Times June 4, 1901
	A terrible tragedy occurred near Nashville, in Berrien county, on last 
Saturday, but the full details are unobtainable, as the telephone wires 
between here and there are out of order.
	The report which reached The Times in a brief note is that John Sweat, 
a well-known character in the county, went to the home of Luke Faulkner on 
Saturday morning and, calling him out of his house, blew his brains out with a 
shot gun.
	Faulkner is a well-known farmer about sixty years of age and has 
several children.  Sweat is a cripple and moves about from place to place in a 
little ox cart.
	After the killing, it is said that he gave himself up to the sheriff 
and is now in jail at Nashville.
