Tyson, a white man, at Heartpine last Saturday morning. Both were employed at the mill, Tyson having charge of a force of hands stacking lumber on the yard. Bryant was in charge of the board deck at the mill and constantly nagging at Tyson about keeping the lumber out of the way. Tyson remonstrated with him several times, and then complained to his employers. Saturday morning, Bryant again approached Tyson about moving the lumber, using profane language. An altercation ensued, during which Tyson drew his knife, and with one blow cut the negro’s throat. Bryant turned and ran to the mill, where he fell and died in a few minutes. Constable T.D. Smith, of Tifton, was present and placed Mr. Tyson under arrest. He was carried to Nashville jail, but will probably give bond.
