 James Elijah “J.E.” Benefield, age 68 of Pearson, GA. Passed away Sunday, 
November 9, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness.
 A native of Nashville, GA., Mr. Benefield was born November 19, 1945, son of 
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie and Fannie Bennett Benefield. He worked as a plumber for many 
years in the manufactured housing industry and attended Cornerstone Church.
 Mr. Benefield was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Bell Branch Benefield; 
one daughter, Sheila Renee Benefield and four sons, James E. Benefield, Jr., 
Eddie Benefield, Randall Benefield and Jeffery Branch.
 Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Bennett and husband Daniel of Pearson; two 
brothers, Eddie Benefield, Jr. of Pearson and Josh Benefield of North Carolina; 
two sisters, Margaret Douglas of Pearson, Shirley Mae Lott of Pearson; five 
grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also 
survive.
 Graveside service for Mr. Benefield was held Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 
Sunnyside Church Cemetery with Rev. Edward Mathews officiating. Special musical 
selections included, “Go Rest High on that Mountain rendered by c.d. and 
“Daddy’s Hands”  rendered by soloist, Tammy Crosby with c.d. accompaniment.
 Interment followed in Sunnyside Church Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were, Jerry Douglas, Jeff Bennett, Josh 
Benefield, Boone McElroy, James Douglas, Jr. Bagley.
 Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
