The Berrien Press -- Jasper Melvin Browning, 80, of West Berrien died March 
20, 2007 at Berrien County Hospital.
 Born December 13, 1926 in Berrien County to the late William Jasper and Annie 
Mae Sutton Browning, he was a retired farmer. He was a member and deacon of 
Pine Grove Baptist Church and an Army veteran of WWII.
 Survivors include his wife, Inez Robinson Browning of West Berrien; three 
daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tommy Stone of Tifton, Judy and Elton 
Hill and Christy and Phil Rowe, all of West Berrien; two sons and one daughter-
in-law, Mel and Donna Browning and William Browning, all of West Berrien; two 
sisters, Vernice McNabb of Lakeland, FL and Geneva Harper of West Berrien; one 
brother, Virgil Browning of West Berrien; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
 Funeral services were held March 22 at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Missionary 
Baptist Church with the Revs. Stan Nix, Mickey Lindsey and Wayne Driscoll 
officiating. The congregation sang "I'll Meet You in the Morning," the church 
choir sang "Walking the Sea" and "When I've Traveled the Last Mile," and 
Phyllis Boyd sang "Go Rest High on that Mountain," accompanied by Rudine 
Schmittou.
 Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery.
 Pallbearers were Shane Stone, Zack Stone, Brent Rowe, Matthew Browning, 
Mitchell Browning, Jordan Browning.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
