Elma Byrd, 91, of Nashville, formerly of Willacoochee, passed away Tuesday, 
June 2, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 23, 1917, 
in Coffee County to the late Dave and Missouri Tyson Wilkerson. She worked at 
Allied Department store in Douglas for many years. She was a member of Faith 
Baptist Church in Willacoochee and was the widow of William Charles Byrd who 
died in 1965. She is survived by four sisters, Opel Mancil of Tifton, Annie L. 
Cloud, Onita Johnson, both of Douglas, Mary Jean Mullis, Middleburg, Fla.; 
brother, Olin Wilkerson, Nashville; several nieces and nephews. Graveside 
funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Satilla 
Memorial Gardens in Coffee County with the Rev. R.T. Castleberry officiating. 
Visitation will be held Thursday from 7-9 p.m. - Lovein Funeral Home, 
Nashville, was in charge of arrangements.
