Born September 9, 1955 to the late Shirley J. Moore and Charles Wright, Sr., she received her formal education from the Berrien County School System and Valdosta Technical College. She was employed with Amoco Fabrics for over 20 years, worked at Nashville Credit Union and then the Berrien County School System from which she retired in 2011. She served as a Ray City Council member for over seven years and as Mayor Pro Tem. She was a member of Camon’s Temple First Born Church where she served as Adult Sunday School teacher, Church Mother, Missionary, Church Secretary and District Secretary, among other offices. She was preceded in death by a son, James Camon, Jr. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Deacon James Camon, Sr,; her children, Reginald E. (Elena) Camon, Yolanda Alisa (Stacy) Camon-Cephas; Ronald R. Camon and Ashley Abbot; her grandmother, Bessie Doe; nine grandchildren, Nigel, Jamese, Tre, Zavious, Tavious, James, III, Josiah, A Arianna and Abigail; brother, Charles Wright, Jr.; four sisters, Edna Moore, S Sandra Russell, Clara Gibbs, and Jacqueline Wright; one special aunt, Louvenia ( (Freddie) Jackson; uncle, Willie James (Linda) Doe; many nieces, nephews, f family and friends. Funeral services were held March 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Camon’s Temple First Born Church with Pastor Madine Camon officiating and Jr. Bishop Freddie Camon presiding. Musical selections were presented by Velma Calhoun, soloist, and the Lakeland District Choir. Remarks were presented by Ms. Gail Melton, Berrien Primary School principal, and a eulogy by Pastor Madine Camon. Interment was in Beaver Dam Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Bobby Camon, Jr., ST.J/ Miller, Jason Gaines, Jerome C Carter, Buford McAllister, Dexter Tillman. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Camon, Donnell Camon, Donald Harris, Edward Moore, Jr., Darryl Henry, Kunta Wright, Leron Wright. Black and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
