Born June 4, 1910 in Marion County to the late Rollins and Eva Spinks, she was a homemaker and member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to the late Walter Carter. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Harper of West Berrien; one son, Sonny Carter of West Berrien; two sisters, Ferol Cosper and Mary Alice Yarbrough, both of Tifton; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Carter and Donald Carter, two brothers, Durward Spinks and Earl Spinks, two sisters, Miram Padgett and Hazel Seymour. Funeral services were held May 31 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Stan Nix and Brantley Seymour officiating. Carl Pafford and Janice Cooper sang "Home Before Dark," accompanied by Linda Hall, pianist, and Ruby Nell Carter sang "Come Morning." A CD by the Primitive Quartet and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" was played. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Brent Harper, Clay Harper, Kyle Harper, Carter Harper, Michael Carter, Gary Carter. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Baker, Bug Baker, Kent Carter, Doc Sumner, Maston Bennett, Doug Alley, Billy Williams. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
