 Leroy D. Carter, 87, of Nashville passed away Oct. 11, 2004, at Berrien 
Nursing Center.

 He was born on Nov. 23, 1916, in Lowndes County to Alton and Lola Harnage 
Carter. He was a retired farmer and security guard for the J.H. Harvey Co. and 
a member of First Baptist Church of Ray City. He was preceded in death by a 
son, Ronnie Lyle Carter, who died in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Gay Carter of Nashville; seven daughters, 
Grace Watson, Shirley McGee, Rhonda Royals, Linda Mallory, Tammy Nash, all of 
Nashville, Joanne Jacobs, Jacksonville, Fla., Virginia Beck-Carter, Adel; four 
sons, Leroy Carter Jr., Statenville, Fred Carter, Douglas Carter, Donnie 
Carter, all of Nashville; 31 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one 
great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at First 
Baptist Church of Ray City with the Rev. Lee Graham officiating. Burial will be 
held in Beaver Dam Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. today with 
the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m.

 Active pallbearers were Jonathan Royals, Robbie Boyett, Timmy Chance, Scott 
Carter, Bill Tyson, Mason Mallory, Bryce Carter, Brad Mallory.

 Honorary pallbearers were Otis Shaw, Howard Ray, Buddy Bostic, Lewis Fountain, 
Jackson Moore, Elmer Keeffe, Wesley Moore, George Skinner, Buddy Nix, James 
Sutton, Leon Durrance, Donald Harnage, Murray Chance, Dwight Bailey, Earl 
Griffin.

 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
