Born May 22, 1936, in Lake Wales, FL to the late Bascom Henry and Edith Irene “Beadie” Giddens Clanton, he retired from Nashville Mills as a s supervisor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Walker Clanton of Lakeland; three sons, Allen Clanton, Ricky Clanton and Chris Corbett, all of Lakeland; six daughters, Julia Leslie of Toppenish, WA, Linda “Matthew” McCardle, Karen “Howard” Freeman, Mary Freeman, Mary “Vince” Clanton, all of Lakeland, Angie “Dee” O’Berry and Anna “Doug” Roland, both of Nashville; two sisters, Mattie Brantley of Blythe and Barbara “Mac” Walton of Perry; sister-in-law, Wilma “Bennie” Tyson of Macon, brother-in-law, Kenneth “Nancy” Walker of Macon; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held September 17 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Daughtry and Aaron Clanton officiating and Bennie Tyson delivering a eulogy. Jason Clanton sang “What a Day That Will Be,” and Doug Roland sang and Doug Roland sang “Seven Spanish Angels.” Songs on CD included “Come Morning,” “I Want Us to Be Together in Heaven,” “Blessings,” and “You Can Let Go Now, Daddy.” Interment was in Vickers Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Freeman, Johnny Hunt, David Roberts, Stephen Albritton, A Allen Clanton, Alex Roland. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
