 Marie Connell, 89, of Nashville died March 20, 2008, at Berrien Nursing Center.
 Born Sept. 22, 1918 in Berrien County to the late Abner and Sara Hendley 
Sirmons, she was a retired teacher and librarian with the Berrien County Board 
of Education; member of Berrien Retired Teachers Association; member of Mt. 
Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to the late Charles Edwin 
Connell who died Dec. 21, 1989.
 Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Beth Connell of 
Lakeland; grandson, Chad Brogdon; great granddaughter, McKenzie Brogdon; 
sister, Ruth Norris, Nashville; brother, Lucious Sirmans of Valdosta.
 Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. March 24, 2008, in the chapel of Lovein 
Funeral Home with the Revs. Stan Stalvey and J.W. Dukes III officiating. Songs 
on CD included "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Precious Memories."
 Interment was in Connell Cemetery.
 Pallbearers were Donnie Kirkland, Brad Kirkland, Johnny Sirmans, Freddie 
Norris, Billy Wallace, Kenny Sirmans.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
