Born June 24, 1929, in Cook County to the late Clarence Homer and Pauline Connell Cornelius, he was a retired aircraft engine machinist manufacturer with Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a member of Nashville First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Leila Jeffords. Survivors include his wife, Inell Parr Cornelius of Nashville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Bobby Elston of Nashville and Terry and Ren Phillips of Orlando, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Barb Cornelius of Jupiter, Fla.; four sisters, Dorothy Cornelius and Sue Lasseter, both of Nashville, Maxine Tatum of Miami, Fla., Faye Simpson of Lake Butler, Fla.; seven brothers, Earl Cornelius, Rudolph Cornelius and Donald Cornelius, all of Nashville, Harry Cornelius and David Cornelius, both of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Bennie Cornelius of Folkston, Robert Cornelius of Thomasville; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Stanley Luke and Mike Bennett officiating. Rodney and Angie Cornelius sang "I Will Rise," the Cornelius Quartet sang "It Is Well With My Soul," and Gail Blount sang "Thank You, Lord." Interment was in LongBridge Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Michael Okell, Matthew Okell, Billy Germaine, Dennis Germaine, Daniel Cornelius, Bobby Dale Elston, Chad Beeman, Jimmy Poteet, Brian Krogh.
