Born July 6, 1915 in Berrien County to the late William and Lillie Purvis Spell, she was retired from the Valdosta City School system. She was a member of New Ramah Baptist Church in Ray City and the Valdosta Senior Center. Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn Johnson of Valdosta, Anna Morgan of Senoia, Judy Long of Fayetteville; one son, Earl Snipes of Ray City; two sisters, Ruth Stalvey and Hazel Whitehead, both of Valdosta, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 28 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Music Funeral Services. Interment was in New Ramah Cemetery. Music Funeral Services of Valdosta was in charge of arrangements.
