Dean, 74, of Alapaha went to be at rest with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Libby W. Dean of Alapaha; daughter, Jackla Ashton Dean of Alapaha; son, Jarret Jackson Dean of Alapaha and both his namesakes. Mr. Dean retired from the Tifton Police Dept. where he served 13 years of his 15 year tenure as motorcycle patrolman, which he dearly loved. He was a member of TPD’s first Traffic Patrol Division. He also retired from Walmart Stores. Inc. where he was a truck driver. He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church. Born in Irwin County on March 18, 1934 to Henry Fletcher Dean and Sarah Louise Benton Dean. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Vernon Jackson Dean. He is also survived by a sister Iantha “Pete” Roberts of Ocilla; five brothers, Henry Dean, Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., Ralph Dean of Richmond Hill, Bobby Dean of Dalton, Horace Dean of Orlando, Fla., and Lanny Dean of Ocilla; and a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, who aided in his care, Debbie W. and Bobby Mathis of Enigma. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Nashville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Luke and the Rev. Mike Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held this evening from 7-9 p.m. Pallbearers were Jacob Parrish, Kenneth Griner, Hayne Norton, Raymond Purvis, Ricky Tucker, John Schaffner. Honorary pallbearers were J.H. Moore, Stanley Moore, Charles Flanders, Carroll Merchant, Gary Warren and members of the Tifton Police Dept. and Tift County Sheriff's Dept. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
