 Betty Devane, 86, of Nashville died November 24, 2013 at Tift Regional Medical 
Center.
 She was born February 11, 1927 in Lanier County to the late William Elisha and 
Golie Watson Rowan. She was a homemaker and retired educator for the Berrien 
County Board of Education. She was a member of Nashville First Baptist Church 
where she was active in Women’s Missionary Union, Berrien Retired Educators 
Association, Pine Needle Sewing Club and New Lois Community Club. She loved to 
direct plays and was an avid gardner. She was the widow of Kay Parrish Devane 
who died November 3, 2009.
 She is survived by two daughters, Vanne (Leon) Tucker of Nashville and Mary 
Kay (Chris) Welsh of Dothan, AL; three brothers, Van Rowan of Adel, Jimmy Rowan 
of Athens, and William Rowan of Nashville; four grandchildren, John (Katy) 
Tucker, Kathryn (Josh) Warren, James Welsh and fiance’, Lindsay Rich and 
Margaret (Jordan) Toups.
 Funeral services were held November 27 at 11 a.m. at Nashville First Baptist 
Church with the Revs. Stanley Luke, Danny Ray and Mickey Lindsey officiating. A 
eulogy was given by Danny Studstill. Vicki Vincent played the processional and 
recessional. Margaret McMillan and Stanley Roberts sang “Oh, What a Beautiful 
Morning,” and Stanley sang “Going Home.” Granddaughter Margaret Welsh Toups 
played “How Great Thou Art” on piano.
 Interment followed at Pleasant Cemetery.
 Pallbearers were Bob Joyce, Tim Tucker, Tim McMillan, John Dixon, John Nix, 
Parrish Akins.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
