She was born July 23, 1923, in Coffee County to the late Joseph and Genora Walker Barrentine. She was a homemaker and for many years served as bookkeeper for Dixon LP Gas Company and C.M. Dixon Fertilizer Company. She was a charter member of Alapaha Baptist Church where she faithfully served in many capacities. She was a strong supporter and worker in the Women's Missionary Union and served as a trustee for the Georgia Baptist Children's Home. She also served in many charitable organizations including the Berrien County Unit of the American Cancer Society of which she was co-chairperson for a number of years. She was the widow of Willis Herbert Jones who died in 1955 and Carl Mathis Dixon who died in 1983. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Schauffer and Addie McMillan; four brothers, Alton Barrentine, Thomas Barrentine, Eutychus Barrentin and Woodrow Barrentine; a grandson, Bert Jones; two sons-in-law, Joy Tully and Paul Crisp. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Tully of Colquitt and Mary Ellen Crisp of Nashville; four sons and three sisters-in-law, Wayne and Michele Jones of Nashville, Steve and Rhonda Dixon, Joe and Marian Dixon and Mark Dixon and fiance' Charlotte Ward, all of Alapaha; 16 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held June 11 at 11 a.m. at Alapaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Gibbs, pastor and Rev. Kenneth Kicklighter of Sycamore officiating. Jaclyn Dixon Ford, granddaughter gave a eulogy. Marsha Smith of Colquitt, pianist/organist, played the processional and recessional, and the Alapaha Baptist Church choir sang "It is Well With My Soul," accompanied by Darlene Turner. Matt Dixon, pianist and Joel Dixon, guitarist, played and sang "I Can Only Imagine." The service ended with the church choir and congregation singing "How Great Thou Art," accompanied by Marsha Smith, with Jake Ford as Soloist. Interment followed at Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton. Pallbearers were Trace Stovall, Guy Stovall, Carl Mathis Dixon, Quentin, Matt Dixon, John Dixon, Joel Dixon, Woody Spurlock, Dick Spurlock.
