James E. "Sarge" Dowdy, 76, of Ray City died August 14, 2009 at Berrien County 
Hospital.
 Born May 17, 1933, in Lawrenceburg, TN to the late Homer and Josephine 
Stovall Dowdy, he retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. 
He later opened Dowdy Paint and Body and was of the Baptist faith. He is 
preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, and his first wife, Willadean 
Dowdy.
 Survivors include his wife, Rebecca A. Dowdy; three daughters, Barbara Noles, 
Pat Browning and Debbie Dowdy; son, Timmy Dowdy; three step-sons, Wayne 
Hughes, Donnie Hughes and James Carroll Hughes; step-daughter, Patty Siniard; 
numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
 As per his wishes, he was cremated.
 Music Funeral Services of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
