Born April 18, 1933, in Tift County to the late Colonel Clinton and Pauline Cranford Drawdy, he graduated from Nashville High School and Emory University Business School. He worked for the U.S. Steel Company for 27 years as plant and regional manager. He was a deacon and faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church. The family moved to Columbus from Albany in 1970. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rebecca Faye Drawdy; children, Joyce Burts (Steve), Ellen Dixon (Moice), Becky Curley (Curtis), all of Columbus, Butch Drawdy (Sharon), San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Emily Kapes (Cory), Corrie Burts, Marissa Brookins (Chris), Morgan Dixon, Kendell Treusdell (Craig), Kristy Powell (Matt), Kerri Schofield (Jerry), Erika Jankiewicz, Daniel Curley, Wayne Curley (Angie), Clint Drawdy (Katie), Jack Drawdy and Jill Drawdy; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Drawdy, Cole Drawdy, Madison Schofield, Scarlett Jankiewicz, Jared Truesdell, Nicole Treusdell, Ethan Powell, Eli Powell, Bradley Curley and Kristi Curley; and sisters, Margaret Simmons Parker, Tifton, Brenda Connell (Jack), Tifton, Joe Vernon Drawdy (Lorie), Lakeland, FL and Merrell Drawdy (Debbie), Tifton. Funeral services were held June 28 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on June 29 in Parkhill Cemetery with the Revs. John Rigsby and Mike Yarbrough officiating. Honorary pallbearers were James Varney, James Smith, Ronnie Holt, Albert Thornton, Terry Christenson, Pete McCoy, deacons of Fairview Baptist Church and members of Neil Shirling and Terry Christenson Sunday School classes.
