 Mary Idell Shaw Ennis, formerly of the Lois Community, died February 4, 2014, 
at her home in Green Cove Springs, FL.
 She was 104 years old and was the last surviving grandchild of Civil War 
veteran, Francis Marion Shaw. She was born August 6, 1909, in the Lois Community 
near Ray City and was the 7th of 8 children of the late Jesse Shelby “Dock” and 
Susan E. Bullard Shaw. Her early education took place at the Pine Grove one room 
school near her home on the Berrien-Lowndes county line. After her schooling, 
she moved to Jacksonville, FL where she met her husband, Clifford Lewis Ennis, 
and they were married on February 5, 1930. They had one child, Clifford Jr., 
before they divorced. She was a bookkeeper and office manager for several 
businesses during her working years. She was a proudly independent lady who 
lived by herself in her new home she had built just ten years ago. She drove her 
car until her last few months of life. In addition to her parents, she was 
preceded in death by her siblings, Cora Shaw Griffin, Beatrice Shaw Carter, 
Marvin Shaw, Sr., Charlie Shaw, Buford Jack Shaw, F.W.M. Shaw, Griffon Shaw; and 
her son, Clifford Ennis, Jr. 
 She is survived by two grandsons, Clifford Ennis, III, and Randy Ennis; 
numerous nieces and nephews.
 Entombment was held at Evergreen Cemetery.
 Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity or VITAS Hospice of 
Jacksonville, FL. 
 Broadus Raines Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs was in charge of 
arrangements.
