Born September 6, 1935 in Cook County to the late William and Viola Gaskins Fender, he was a farmer employed with Clifton Hendley. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith. Survivors include two sisters, Betty Jean King of TyTy and Myrtle Lee (Nell) Pope of Moultrie. Funeral services were held October 12 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Congregational hymns included "Precious Memories" and "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be." Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Wayne Hendley, David Hendley, Eugene Fender, John Fender, Steve Hogan, Jerome Pope. Honorary pallbearers were David Hendley, James Griner, Randall Griner, Archie Hendley. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
