He was born on July 21, 1953, in Tift County to Lewis and Joyce Avera Flanders. He was employed with Chaparral Boats in the Research and Development Division. He was a member of the Flint River Chapter of the Harley Owners Group, an Army veteran and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Ngocinai Nguyen "My" Flanders of Nashville; two daughters, Michelle (Wayne) Baker, Lakeland, Denise Flanders, Nashville; three sons, Gabe Flanders, Nashville, Larry (Ellyn) Godwin, David (Kristi) Godwin, all of Valdosta; 11 grandchildren; father and mother, Lewis and Joyce Flanders, Alapaha; two sisters, Kathy Flanders, Leesburg and Karen (Jason) McEldowney of Valdosta. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 26, 2008, in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Gibbs officiating. The eulogy was given by Larry Godwin. Faye Jernigan sang "How Great Thou Art," accompanied by Marian Dixon, pianist. Songs on CD included "Amazing Grace" and "If You're Reading This." Interment will be held in Fletcher Cemetery in Alapaha. Pallbearers were Ashley Darley, Ricky Hopkins, Greg Jones, Leonard Shaver, Lamar Brooks, Tim Simerly.
