 Brooker T. Fountain, Jr., 78, of Ray City died December 10, 2013 at Berrien 
Nursing Center.
 He was born in Berrien County on February 16, 1935 to the late Ruby Giddens 
and Brooker Fountain, Sr. He was a member of Ray City United Methodist Church 
in Ray City and the Elks lodge in Valdosta. He retired as an automobile 
salesman after 53 years. He served as a deputy sheriff with the Berrien County 
Sheriff’s Department several years ago, he loved bluegrass music and was an 
avid old western movie fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death 
by a sister, Shirley Brown.
 Survivors include his wife, Jackie Fountain of Ray City; two sons, Joel 
T. “Bear” Fountain of Lake Park and Richard Truitt of Denver, CO; step-
daughter, Renee and Charles Austin of Fairhope, AL; step-son, Kyle and Gidget 
Sweat of Atlanta, step-son, Jerry Gill of Macon; granddaughters, Megan 
Patterson, Hannah Patterson, Alyson Austin; grandson, Kyler Truitt; sisters, 
Dorothy Selman of St. Marys, Sandra Fountain of Decatur, Dolly Anderson of St. 
Marys, Fonda Fountain of St. Augustine, FL; brother, Alan and Donna Fountain of 
Ray City.
 Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on December 13 at Lakeland Chapel of 
Music Funeral Services.
 Interment followed at Burnt Church Cemetery in Lakeland.
 Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 41 Perimeter Center East 
Suite 550, Atlanta, GA.
 Music Funeral Services of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
