Fountain Killed Himself Last Friday Buried Sunday at Flat Creek; Wife Killed Two Years Ago By Lightning Regrets are heard all over this section on the sad death of Mr. J.L. Fountain at his home near Ray City Friday afternoon, and more especially on account of the tragic death of his beloved companion, who was killed a few years ago by a stroke of lightning. This sad event seemed to have preyed heavily on his mind, really to such an extent that he never fully recovered from its effect. Lately he has been in declining health, which together with is previous trouble, no doubt led up to the rash and lamented act of shooting himself in the head with a shot gun, causing instant death. He was fifty-three years old and is survived by five brothers and five children, who have the deepest sympathy of their many friends and neighbors, indeed of the people of the county who have heard of the lamented occurrence. He was buried at 11 o’clock Monday at Flat Creek cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. A.H. Giddens, who also preached the funeral of his departed wife at the same place a few years ago.
