Born Aug. 4, 1932 in Spartanburg Co., SC, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Martha Waters Whited. She was a homemaker and retired teller/cashier with the Citizens Bank and was a member of Nashville First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, James William "Jim" Garrett of Nashville; one daughter, Paige (David) Dampier of Nashville; three sons, Jimmy (Beth) Garrett of Tallahassee, FL, Tommy (Tammy) Garrett of Adel, Joey (Tonia) Garrett of Nashville; one sister, Jean Weiss of Palm Coast, FL; eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Tillotson, and three sisters, Dottie Mannin, Sadie Smith, and Gail Alderman. Funeral services were held April 18 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Elder Robert Conner officiating. Jerry Stokes sang "Thank You" and taped selections included "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Victory in Jesus." Interment was in Nashville Memorial Gardens. All grandchildren also served ceremoniously as honorary pallbearers. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
