Durden dawned@dishmail.net March 12, 2008, 12:04 pm The Berrien Press, Nashville, Berrien Co., GA Lilla Gaskins, 91, of Alapaha died Jan. 11, 1998 at her residence. Born August 30, 1906 in Berrien County to the late William Samuel and Maude Turner Bradford, she was a homemaker and retired nurse's aide. She was the oldest living member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Frances Rowe of Alapaha and Gloria Ferrell of Peachtree City; one son, Albert Harvey Gaskins of Jacksonville, FL; one niece, Dessa King of Nashville; five grandchildren, Brenda G. Thornton, Joyce Rowe Jones, Sandra Gaskins, Eric Bradford Ferrell and Albert Thomas Gaskins (deceased); 10 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Hardie Gaskins and a daughter, Estill Irene Gaskins. Funeral services were held Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. at St.Luke Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Fussell, Jackie Connell and Johnny Hendley officiating. The Taylor Family provided appropriate music. Interment was in St. Luke Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Hayward Cribb, Wayne Cribb, Tommy Flanders, Michael Bennett, Billy Steverson, Talmadge Cribbs, Walt Durden, Jerry Mixon. Honorary pallbearers were deacons and men of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church; also Willaford Jernigan, Harry Davis and Junior May. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
