NASHVILLE - Eloise Gaskins, 83, of Nashville, died on Thursday, 
March 7, 2002, at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital. She was born on 
July 28, 1918, in Berrien County to Thomas Calvin and Bessie Lee 
Hill Nix. She was a homemaker and worked for many years with 
Miller Hardware & Gifts, and was a member of Poplar Springs 
Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of the Rev. Felton L. 
Gaskins who died in 1989 and was preceded in death by a daughter, 
Faye Rogers who died in 1994, and a sister, Ruedell Wheeler who 
died in 2001. She had a loving compassion for her church, her 
family and her community. Her special love was her flowers. She 
had served as a Pink Lady at Berrien County Hospital and was a 
member of the Georgia Realtors Institute. Mrs. Gaskins is survived 
by one daughter, Carolyn Avrett of Nashville; one son, Huey 
Gaskins of Nashville; six sisters, Maedee Clifton, Deland, Fla., Betty 
Martin, Nashville, Christine Pickett, Jacksonville, Fla., Ernestine 
Browning, Reidsville, Dean Connell and Glenda Faye Bailey, both of 
Nashville; three brothers, J.T. Nix, Nashville, Ulmer Nix, Oklahoma 
City, Okla., Billy Nix, Lakeland; eight grandchildren; and 12 
great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday 
in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary James 
officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 
held after 4 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m.
