Born July 13, 1919 in Lowndes County to the late Ulrich and Viola Cowart, she was a homemaker and member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to the late Lawton E. Gaskins. Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Maupin of Nashville and Helen Garren of Valdosta; four grandsons, five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 15 at 3 p.m. at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Hendley and George Painter officiating. Susan and Alton Exum sang "In The Garden." Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Bruce Shepard, Carlos Vickers, Lamar Vickers, Paul Griner, Troy Griner, David Hendley. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Hendley, Clifton Hendley, Eston Rowe, Archie Hendley, Elton Vickers, James Griner, James Royals, Lamar Jones, George Rowan, Jr. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
