 Clarence Herbert “Big Daddy” Gaskins of Augusta died Sept. 21, 2010, at U
University Hospital.
 A native of Lakeland, he cultivated many friends while living in Augusta for 
the last 16 years. He served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division 
as a paratrooper. He retired as a manager with Lucent Technologies. He loved 
the water and spent several  years boating and fishing in the Florida Keys and 
enjoyed living on and boating in the Savannah River. He also enjoyed spending 
time with friends from the Augusta Yacht Club, the “Tuesday night steak club,” and
his many special friends in Costa Rica.
 Survivors include his wife, Claire Gaskins of Augusta; daughter and son
and his many special friends in Costa Rica.

Laura and Albert Hooker Beveridge; grandsons, Connor Beveride, twins, Grayson and
Tanner Beveridge, and grand
law, Laura and Albert Hooker Beveridge; grandsons, Connor Beveride, twins, 
Grayson and Tanner Beveridge, and grand-dog, Rosebud.
 A memorial service was held September 24 at 2 p.m. at St. James United Meth
Methodist Church with Rev. Sandra Leightner officiating.
 A local memorial service and interment will be held Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. at Riv
Riverside Baptist Church in Berrien County with Rev. Roy Lynn Gaskins off
officiating.
 Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors of Augusta was in charge of arrangements.
