Born Dec. 28, 1930, in Berrien County to the late Walter and Ruby Rowe Gaskins, he was retired owner of Roto Rooter Plumbing and Denny's Septic Tank S Service. He was a member of Forrest Street Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Christine Hall Gaskins of Franklin; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Doris Gaskins of Tifton; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John Kumpik of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Melissa (Hamp) Davis, John (Allison) Kumpik, Jr., Rachel Gaskins, Jason Kumpik, Danny Gaskins, Jr., two great grandchildren, Stacie Kumpik and Jadyn Kumpik, special granddaughter, Kelley Gravitt; sisters, Betty Jean (Roger) Tumbleson of Eustis, FL, Imo Jean (J.B.) Smith of Sebring, FL, Juanita Cameron (Joe Reeves) of Leesburg, FL; brothers, Leo (Gwen) Gaskins of Wachulla, FL, Lincoln (Janice) Alapaha, Kenneth (Betty) Gaskins of Naylor. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Briston, J James, Jesse and Hubert Gaskins; sisters, Emma Adams and Eula Mae Brown. Funeral services were held May 5 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Phillip Simmons and Charlie Scarbrough and Dr. Dean Mink offi officiating. Caroline Bullock sang "Wish You Were Here." Songs on CD incl included "Old Rugged Cross," "Amazing Grace," and "Far Side Banks of Jordan." Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Johnny Mack Brown, John Thomas Rowe, Charles Adams, Vi Vinson Rowe, Michael White, William Barrett. Honorary pallbearer was Dan Jonson. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
