Gaskins Death Victim Died Last Friday at Home Here – Ill Seriously One Week – 54 Years Old Citizens of Nashville and Berrien County were greatly saddened in the passing of Mr. L.B. Gaskins Sr. at his home here in Nashville last Friday night at 11:30 o’clock, following a serious illness of one week of diabetes. Mr. Gaskins had been in failing health for several years, however, his condition was not thought to be serious. The deceased was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John A. Gaskins, and was a very highly esteemed citizen and business man. He was born and reared in this county and had lived all his life here. He was the brother of Mr. J. Henry Gaskins, representative of Berrien County. For a long number of years Mr. Gaskins had engaged in the businesses of farming, naval stores, and sawmill, at which trades he had made a success. He was considered a good business man, and was well and favorably known over the entire south Georgia section. Mr. Gaskins and family moved to Nashville about four years ago, and their home is in the eastern part of the city. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at the Gaskins cemetery in eastern Berrien County, conducted by Rev. L.E. Williams, pastor of the Nashvilel Methodist Church. Hundreds of relatives and friends gathered to pay their last respects to this well known Berrien man and citizen. Those surviving are the widow; four sons, Glenn Gaskins, L.B. Gaskins Jr., Willard and Donald Gaskins; four daughters, Mrs. N.T. Gaskins, Mrs. G.M. May, Mrs. H.B. May, and Miss Ida Pearl Gaskins, all of the sons and daughters residing in this city; two brothers, Mr. J. Henry Gaskins of Nashville and Mr. J.B. Gaskins of Sylvania.
