He was born April 11, 1946, in Berrien County to the late Silas and Lula Grimes Giddens. He was retired with Georgia Department of Transportation as an assistant area engineer and for many years was a member of the "Chain Gang" at Berrien High home football games. He is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Chris) Barrentine and Carlene (Mickey) Meeler, all of Nashville; one sister, Melba (Billy) Barker, Valdosta; five grandchildren, Ali Lindsey, Ami Lindsey, Trace Barrentine, Tyler Meeler and Brandon Meeler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Bennett, the Rev. Stanley Luke and the Rev. Grady Jewell officiating. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Trowell, Hal McMillan, Buddy Gill, David Powell, Donnie Carter, Mike Shoupe.
