She was born on March 2, 1917 in Berrien County to the late William Allen and Mattie Watson Crosby. She was an active member of Lakeland United Methodist Church where she served many children in the church nursery for other 30 years. She was also active in Women’s Club at the church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Giddens; five sisters, Dolly Denmark, Inez Thornton, Floye Craven, Bernice Mims, Lucille Baker; brother, Leon Crosby; son-in-law, Jimmy Brantley. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Richaard A. and Beverly Clanton of Lakeland; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara C. and Mack Walton of Perry, Mattie J. Brantley of Blythe; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on June 14 at Lakeland United Methodist Church with Pastor Pete Barlow and Rev. John B. Carroll officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lakeland.
