Giddens, 72, of Nashville died Jan. 13, 2012, at Vistacare Hospice in Atlanta after a short illness. Born Jan. 25, 1939, in Adel, he moved to Nashville a few years ago. He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Major after 22 years of service and received numerous awards, medals and commendations. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Berrien County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Ethel Giddens, and siblings, Margie and Gerald. Survivors include his wife, Dean Williams Giddens of Nashville; a daughter and son-in-law, Karra and Clay Harden of Greensboro, NC; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Karen Giddens of Bloomingdale, Joey and Tessa Harrison and Jeffrey and Nicole Harrison, all of Ludowici; step-son, Kevin Williams of Nashville; sister and brother-in-law, Winona and Johnny Sewick of Comer; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. at Howard- Jones-Nobles Funeral Home in Ludowici with Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Interment followed in Rye Patch Cemetery in Long County with full military honors.
