William Henry Cook Jr., 25, identified by the Sheriff’s office as driver of the coupe, died enroute to the Jackson Memorial Hospital. His passenger, John Witherly Giddens, 21, of Nashville, was killed instantly, said Deputy Sheriff R.W. Howden. Howden said taht Robert B. Jacobs, 56, driver of the truck, suffered a slight concussion. Almost 2,000 gallons of aviation gasoline cascaded over the wreckage from the truck but airport firefighters quickly “wet down” the area to prevent a fire and explosion. The Nashville youth was the son of Jack Giddens, Berrien County farmer. The body is enroute home for burial.
