She was born June 14, 1915, in Mystic to the late Joshua Walker and Eddie Florence Robinson Pierce. She was a homemaker, member of Nashville First Baptist Church, graduated from Ocilla High School and attended the Georgia State Women’s College. She was the widow of Harley Whaley who died in 1973, and Holmes Giddens who died in 2000, She was preceded in death by her sisters, Annell Pierce and Ollirete Pierce and a brother, J.W. Pierce. In her lifetime she had been very active in the Nashville Woman’s Club and its early years served as a teacher in the kindergarten program and had been recognized as a “Woman of the year.” Survivors include two stepdaughters, Patsy Adams of Nashville and Margaret Ann Ebmeyer of Alpharetta; sister-in-law, Allene Whaley Troka of Glennville; several step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and god-daughter, Pattie Harvey Robinson of Athens. Funeral services were held at Mystic Baptist Church on February 14 at 2 p.m. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials are requested to Nashville First Baptist Church or the Mystic Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
