Hubert “Cowboy” Gilliard, 81, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at his home in 
Nashville.He was born March 7, 1927, in Coffee County to the late Clifford 
Gilliard and the late Valtine Stevens Gilliard. He was a rancher, a member of 
Flat Creek Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II.He is 
survived by his wife, Clarice Cook Gilliard of Nashville; a stepdaughter, 
Barbara (Donald) Boyd of Nashville; a sister, Grace Gray of Nicholls; two step-
grandsons; a step-granddaughter; six step-great-grandchildren. Services will 
be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Flat Creek Baptist Church with 
the Rev. Mickey Lindsey. Interment will be in Flat Creek Cemetery. Visitation 
is Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Lovein Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or 
make memorials to Flat Creek Church, Flat Creek Christian Academy or to the 
charity of your choosing. - Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
