Goodin, 95, died January 7, 2008 at Berrien County Hospital. Born December 17, 1912 in Berrien County to the late John Duncan "Dumps" and Eliza "Pinky" Swain Mathis, she was a homemaker and member of Trinity Holiness Church. She was married to the late Joe Goodin who died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joe Ed Goodin, who died in 1988. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Betty Faye and Sonny Odom of Nashville; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Webb of Valdosta; one sister, Geraldine Bone of Adel; five grandchildren, Betty Jo Goodin, Mary Jo Goodin, Rita Whilden, Randy Odom, Kay McKie; two step-grandchildren, Jackie Goodin and Teresa Webb; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister, Jim Mathis, Dewey Mathis, Roy Mathis, Marshall "Buck" Mathis, J.D. Mathis, Jr., Robert Mathis, Clyde Mathis, Eliza Jane Beaty. Funeral services were held January 10 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Holiness Church with the Revs. Freddie Stone and Hershel Smith officiating. The congregation sang "Amazing Grace," Steve Whilden sang "Thank You, Lord," and Margaret Smith sang, "God is Good," accompanied by Wendell Nettles, pianist. Interment was in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Sonny Mathis, Bruce Mathis, Darrell Mathis, Julian Haskins, Marshall Mathis, Joe Elbert Mathis. Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Rewis, Tom Griner, Robert Hughes, Vernon Hughes, Duell Stone, Alfred Stone, Julius Brogdon, James Brogdon, Wayne Peacock, Brian Starling, Gary Warren.
