Born July 12, 1914 in Coffee County to the late Lewis and Mamie Swails. She was a homemaker and member of Ruth Forrester Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to the late Edwin Gray. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Nell Ross of Lakeland; five sons: Alton Gray of Valdosta, Earl Wayne Gray, Don Gray, Dale Brown, Randy Brown all of Nashville; 3 sisters, Lunie Poncier of Wachula, FL, Estelle Crawford and Virginia Dierker both of Winter Haven, FL; two brothers, James Swails and Lee Swails both of Wachula; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, eight great- great grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 21 at 3 p.m. at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Bob Holland, Fred Hesters, and Jimmy Spikes officiating. Musical selections by Mary, Heather and Sharon Roe included "Rock of Ages," "Precious Memories," and "I Want Us To Be Together in Heaven." Interment was in Poplar Springs Church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Lewis "Bud" Gray, Robbie Gray, Earl Gray, Ricky McCardle, Roger Brown, Timmy Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Burgstaller, Alan Gray, Steve Gray, Harvey Hiers, Carroll Whitley, Danny Gandy. Music Funeral Services of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
