 Herbert Earl Gray, Sr., 79, of Enigma died March 13, 2012, at South Georgia Me
Medical Center in Valdosta.
 He was born December 19, 1932, in Thomaston (Upson County) to the late Lillian S
Strickland and J.D. Gray, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott D
Dwayne Gray, and a sister, Connie Ophelia Goddard. He was a truck driver and of t
the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
 Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy Lamar and Estela Gray of 
Douglas and Herbert Earl, Jr., and Chastina Gray of Ambrose; brothers, Rev. 
Woodrow Gray of Douglas and J.D. Gray, Jr., of Tifton; sisters, Loretta Burkett 
of Douglas, Frances Giddens, Brenda Parkerson and Pat Wirebrough, all of 
Enigma, and Susan Barnes of Brookfield; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
his long
grandchildren; his long-time companion, Thelma Apperson of Enigma.
Funeral services were held March 16 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Ho
Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating and Rev. Woodrow Gr
Gray giving a eulogy.
 His sons and nephews served as pallbearers.
 Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.
