Born August 9, 1919 in Berrien Co. to the late Henry D. and Della Webb Griffin, he was a farmer and had lived in the community all his life. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Alapaha and was named Berrien County's Oldest Farmer of the Year in 2006. Survivors include his wife, Geneva McMillan Griffin of Alapaha; children, Gene Edison (Mary Ann) Griffin of Knoxville, TN, Carolyn Griffin Purvis of Alapaha, John Wayne (Cindy) Griffin of Bonifay, FL, Mary Ann Griffin (Donald) Woody of Nashville, Charles Daniel Griffin of Milledgeville and James Thomas (Kathy) Griffin of Alapaha; one sister, Bessie G. Harper of Nashville; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob, Aaron, and Mack Griffin, and a son- in-law, Wayne Purvis. Funeral services were held on March 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Alapaha with Father Alfonso Gutierrez officiating. A Rosary service was held at 6 p.m. on March 15 at Paulk Funeral Home of Ocilla. Interment was in Fletcher Cemetery. Paulk Funeral Home of Ocilla was in charge of arrangements.
