Dell was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Berrien County, Ga. She lived in Nashville and was a member of Hope Baptist Church. Prior to moving to Nashville, she and her husband, John, lived in Macon, Ga. They were members of Pine Forest Baptist Church, where John served as a deacon. Before moving to Macon in 1962, they resided in Waycross, Ga. Dell was preceded in death by her parents, Lucius and Ellen Solomon Gaskins, brothers Breman and James Gaskins, and her husband, John, of 58 years. Dell is fondly remembered by her son, Ken Griffin and his wife Vicki of Pensacola, Fla.; granddaughters Tonya Peters and her husband Robb of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tara McCoy of Bowling Green, Ky., and Megan Griffin of Pensacola; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Peters of Colorado Springs; a brother, Herbert Gaskins and his wife Ernestine of Nashville, Ga.; a sister, Annette Pittman and her husband Herbert of Adel, Ga.; and many other cherished family and friends. Dell was known as a very loving, kind and caring person with a big heart and a devout Christian lady who lived a wonderful life. Her smile, laughter and compassion for people will be cherished memories for her loving family. Pallbearers are as follows: Stanley Gaskins, Nick Griffin, Shawn Hall, Al Bridges, Tom Hattaway, Robert Sweat and Darrell Barber. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Pickern, the Rev. Junior Swain and the Rev. Charlie Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday one hour prior to services at the church. — Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville, was in charge of arrangements.
