His death came as a shock to all who knew him. He had apparently been in good health preceding the attack. Mr. Griffin had been a life time resident of Berrien County, raising a family to prominent citizenship. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Griffin, late of Berrien County. Born on November 4, 1871, at the time of his death he was 66 years of age. Funeral services were held at the Flat Creek Church on Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Rev. L.E. Williams of Macon conducted the services. Interment followed in the Flat Creek cemetery. A quartet composed of N.H. Harper, Wiley Chambliss, Mrs. E.H. Brown, and Mrs. Charlie Griffin sang “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be.” Mrs. Rachel Cox was pianist. Pall-bearers were friends of the deceased, E.S. Steward, S.T. Bragdon, N.N. Hughes, J.B. Boyett, Johnnie McDowell, and Charlie Gray. He is survived by his widow, seven sons and three daughters. Noel E. Griffin, of Lakeland; Tharon Griffin, of New York City; D. Griffin, F.P. Griffin, W.E. Griffin, Junior Griffin, and Bobby Griffin, of Nashville; Mrs. J.A. Hamilton, Mrs. Buren Griner, and Miss Bessie Louise Griffin, of Nashville. Out of town visitors at the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Williams, of Norfolk, Va.; Mr. O.S. Williams, Mr. Jack Williams, Misses Ouida and Euna Lee Williams, of Orlando, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Parrish, and Mr. Lum Parrish, of Atlanta; Mr. and Mrs. James Parrish, Misses Naomi and Lucile Parrish, and Mr. William Strickland, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Webb, of Hahira. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Giddens Funeral Home of Nashville.
