George Raymond Grimes, 63, of Nashville died July 30, 2009, in Berrien County.
 Born January 28, 1946, in Berrien County to the late O.T. and Lillie Mae 
Harsey Grimes, he was a retired Civil Service meat cutter in the commissary at 
Moody AFB. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church where he served as a 
deacon and youth director. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served 
in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
 Survivors include his wife, Brenda Giddens Grimes of Nashville; two daughter, 
Lisa Grimes McMillan of Sparks and Christy Grimes of Nashville; two sisters, 
Betty Knight of Ray City and Faye Conger of Nashville; one brother, Bobby 
Grimes of Ft. Myers, FL; two step-brothers, Buddy Bostick of Nashville and 
James Exum of Morven; one step-sister, Annette Baker of Ray City; two 
grandchildren, Chloe and Seth McMillan. He was preceded in death by a brother, 
Olsen Grimes.
 Funeral services were held August 2 at 4 p.m. at Flat Creek Church with the 
Revs. Mickey Lindsey, Mark Swain, Gary James and Jimmy Parker officiating. A 
selected choir sang "Pass Me Not" and "Hide Me, Rock of Ages," Gregg Shoupe 
sang "The Baptism," and "Beulah Land" was played  on CD, Tammy Kent served as 
pianist.
 Interment was in Flat Creek Cemetery.
 Active pallbearers were Stacey Holbrook, Rodney Cornelius, Gregg Shoupe, 
Robbie Dasher, Joe Allen Kent, Rusty Partin.
 Honorary pallbearers were J.H. Exum, Charles Bryan, Frank Fletcher, Bobby 
Kent, Thomas Kent and youth of Flat Creek Church.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
