Born March 27, 1919 in Berrien County to the late William Evant and Effie Jane McNabb Clanton, she was a homemaker and member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church, where she served many years as church pianist. She was married to the late Harvey Griner. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Donna Griner of Nashville; one sister, Mamie Hewitt of Nashville; grandson, Breman Griner of Alapaha; granddaughter, Cheryl Spikes of Nashville; six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Langley and Verdie Rice; six brothers, Clarence Clanton, Floyd Clanton, Daniel Clanton, G.H. Clanton, William "Duck" Clanton, Gene Clanton. Funeral services were held May 4 at 11 a.m. at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Junior Swain and Tommy Spikes officiating. Cheryl Spikes served as pianist. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Timmy Spikes, Breman Griner, Aaron Griner, Michael Spikes, Charles Duggan, Danny Hendley. All members of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church were considered honorary pallbearers. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
